Student from my summer session of Locations drawings did some amazing work. Here are some highlights:
Beth did a great job with this detailed and expressive drawing of some trees with San Francisco's "Painted Ladies" in the background. She focused her attention the negative space between the tree limbs.

Mariel learned quite a bit by doing a careful study after Van Gogh. After that she was apply to apply a rather Van Gogh-esque style of loose but organized mark-making to render this tree.

Earl really committed to this view of the east side of Alamo Square park and made this incredibly realistic and finely rendered drawing.

Another one from Earl. He became fascinated with the rhythm of these cross-walks which can be seen on the east side of Alamo Square Park. In addition to the careful draftsmanship the loose parallelograms - in both the cross-walk and chair backs - give this drawing a unique syncopated rhythm.
